Modified on Fri, 12 May 2023 at 03:08 AM

Introducing the new layout of Portcast Container Tracking

We're excited to announce a major update to our Container Tracking Web App. Our new layout provides a more intuitive and user-friendly experience, making it easier for you to track your shipments and stay on top of your logistics operations. You'll be able to quickly view your cargo's status, see important details such as vessel name and arrival times, and even track using PO numbers.

We've also added new features to make your tracking experience more seamless than ever. We understand that logistics operations can be complex, involving multiple teams across different regions. We want to make it easy for you to collaborate and stay on top of your shipments. With our Saved Views, you can tailor your tracking experience to your specific needs and ensure that everyone on your team can access the information they need to do their job effectively.

We believe that this new layout will significantly improve your experience with Portcast Container Tracking. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to hearing your feedback on this exciting new update!

Overview of new features

1. Introducing Container Tracking Views

This is yet another way to visualise your data in a more convenient way. We start with Table Page View (which is currently set as a default view), with Calendar View and Map View coming soon in Q3 and Q4 2023, respectively.

2. Easy-to-access Chat features

Collaboration has never been that easy. Noticed an exception and would like to escalate it with your team? You can do so directly from the Table Page View.

3. New feature: Saved Views

Create custom views for your team and customers to access

  1. Start by selecting relevant filters to identify your shipments.
  2. Once filters are applied, click “Save View”
  3. Now, give this View a Name, e.g. Spain Import 1
  4. … and Description (optional): e.g. containers heading to Spain
  5. Click “Save View”

To access your containers in the future, select “Saved View” drop-down list to access any of the Saved Views you have created.

Here is a quick run-through.

We’ve created the following ones for you by default: All, New, Late, and Active. And here are a few examples of Saved Views that our customers are working with:

  • Carrier-specific → CMA CGM only: containers that are shipped with CMA CGM
  • Location-specific → Transit via SGSIN: containers transiting via SGSIN
  • Trade flow-specific → US West Coast Export: containers arriving at any of the US West Coast ports
  • Based on any of the following: Supplier, Consignee, Importer names, Content, or PO Number.

Those fields are available to accounts that have set up a two-way integration with Portcast

Rollback process

Prefer the old layout? We will continue supporting the old layout until the end of September 2023. You can always roll back to the previous version of the web app by clicking “SWITCH TO OLD UI” at the bottom right-hand corner of the web app.
